FAQs
Do you offer short-term rentals?
No, the vision of Poplar Creek is a village for long-term residents. For that reason, we do not offer short term rentals. However, owners may opt to rent their homes when they are not owner-occupied. This is done privately through the owner.
What is included in the lot rental?
Poplar Creek lot rentals generally run year-to-year. Each lot comes with 2 parking spaces. Lot rentals include: access to property amenities, trash and recycle, ground maintenance and high-speed internet. Each lot is equipped with 50amp service, septic connections, and municipal water connections. Water and electric are separately metered for each lot and these connections and monthly utility fees are the responsibility for each resident.
Do you accept “schoolies,” van conversions, container homes or motorized RVs?
No, not at this time. All homes must be park model tiny homes or tiny homes on wheels, meeting the ANSI A119.5 standards or RVIA standards. No other alternative living quarters are housing will be accepted.
Do you build homes for the community?
Yes, we have partnered with a builder who can build you a high-quality, reasonably priced home. We offer two standard models but we can work with you to design a custom home of your dreams. You also have the option of purchasing a tiny home from any builder of your choosing, so long as appropriate certifications and insurance requirements are satisfied.
What area attractions or activities are close to the community?
The Thermal Belt Rail Trail is a 13.58 Mile long paved converted railway, running through the heart of Rutherford County, NC – connecting Spindale, Rutherfordton and Forest City.
20 miles away are the towns of Chimney Rock, home of Chimney Rock State Park, and Lake Lure, a 1500 acre municipal lake with 27 miles of shoreline and public beach access.
The greater western North Carolina region is home to 3 major universities, Appalachian State University, UNC Asheville and Western Carolina University.
How do I secure a lot?
The first step to securing your lot requires that you complete an application and a background check (which includes a credit check). Once you’ve pre-qualified for a lot rental, lots will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. To secure your lot, you must first pay a deposit of first month’s rent and security deposit.
Do you allow pets?
Yes. We require that each pet has a full vaccination record, including rabies shots. Pets are typically approved unless the breed is on the uninsurable list or exceeds the 70 lb. weight limit. There is a limit of two pets per home. Dogs must be leased while on communal property and owners are expected to clean up after their pets. Pets must reside within the home.
Do you allow sheds or other storage?
No, but onsite storage will be available for an additional cost.
